As kitten heels are making a major comeback to the fashion scene for Spring/Summer 2017, we look to some of our favorite fashion icons for sartorial inspiration that promotes versatility and wearability. Just in time for us to enter the new season, kitten heels are already making a comeback into many a soul’s wardrobes and we sure are considering trading in our most vertiginous heels for the laid-back and endlessly chic allure of micro-heeled mules and slingback.
While this footwear silhouette has been one to divide the industry between those who praise its comfort and those who disagree with its aesthetic appeal, many designers, from Maria Grazia Chiuri at Dior to fashion wunderkind Demna Gvasalia at Vetements, were responsible for the revival of the anti-fashion shoe. When sent down the catwalks for SS 2017, it took less than an Instagram-second to get the fashion pack to fall in love with bold and architectural styles that had the models just a couple of centimeters off the ground.
Itsy bitsy heels off the Prada, Gucci and Loewe catwalks have inspired a wave of designs at more affordable price points and before you disregard them altogether due to old-fashioned connotations, consider they have undergone an edgy makeover where bent heels, textured, embellished tops and knotted detailing have spun this silhouette into street style territory. The styling, also, is a lot less prim! We will be pairing them with loosely fitted trousers with rolled up cuffs and button-up blouses with over-sized sleeves for added drama in the silhouette’s proportions (that is three new season trends mastered at once)!
