The Star Wars world premiere at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Saturday was an event that had fans and red-carpet fashion lovers across the globe watching. Lupita Nyong’o, known for her dazzling career so far with successive appearances in award-winning films such as 12 Years A Slave, has not had a shortage of head-turning sartorial moments during her appearances on the red carpet either. The Kenyan-Mexican actress, wore a jewel-toned frock and appeared alongside co-star Jenna Ortega, bedecked in jewels which included a pair of platinum diamond earrings from Tiffany & Co, an 18-karat white gold Hard Wear ball diamond ring and another spectacular 18-karat gold ring with diamonds.
The thigh was the limit for the leading lady who’s dress was an emerald Halpern dress decked out in sequins, tastefully woven into the symmetric midi design that emulated movement reminiscent of the ocean, or perhaps was it a galaxy? The leg-baring piece featured jacquard textures that were as futuristic as they were festive in their aesthetic. The look was finished with a $2,870 Tyler Ellis clutch and balanced by a rather classic open-toe pair of golden heels by Jimmy Choo which brought out the metallic accents from the dress while elongating the legs that were revealed by the dress’ high slit.
Her makeup look was effortless and her complexion glowing, accentuated only by her fuchsia pout that drew attention to the upper body that the dress uncovered. She gave a shout-out to her glam team on Instagram, crediting everyone for her look: “Back to that red carpet life for Star Wars: The Last Jedi premiere”. And while the actress is heard but not seen in the movie, she made sure to come in with a bang once on the red carpet.
